Just a note for those in Austin or planning to visit: the Texas legislature has passed a bill overriding local-level ride-sharing regulation, which means that Uber and Lyft will probably be returning to Austin very soon (as soon as the Governor signs it).
Both Uber and Lyft have confirmed to media outlets that they will resume operations just as soon as the law comes into effect.
This is very good news for those who missed Uber and Lyft in Austin, both of which pulled out of the city about a year ago over strict local regulations.
