We all do online shopping. However, we don’t always use free and simple tools available to us to get the best price. One of these is coupon codes.
Perhaps you’ve noticed that, right before paying, most merchants have a box on their website for coupon or discount codes. You should never finalize a purchase without trying out some codes, especially for expensive items. The codes are easy to find.
I always just google the name of the merchant and the phrase “coupon code”. The top site is usually RetailMeNot. It contains tens of thousands of coupon codes, which you can just copy and paste. This saves me hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars per year.
For example, I was buying an appliance the other day at the Lowe’s website, which cost about $450. I did an online coupon search just before checking out, and came across a random website which had a coupon for 10% off. I tried it and it worked, and thus kept about $45 that I would have otherwise just given to the store for no good reason.
Aside from doing web searched for coupons, you can also use a browser extension called honey, which will automatically try up to 10 coupon codes for you when you click on it. I have not had much luck with it (mainly at Amazon, which is usually not very coupon-friendly), but it’s free and you can try it.
Bottom line: online coupons can save you loads of money. Don’t check out without trying a few!
