Tips to Save Money on Printer Paper

Use both sides of the paper

Many printers allow you to print on both sides of the paper, also known as duplex printing. This can significantly reduce the amount of paper you use and ultimately save you money. Like, close to half of what you would spend otherwise.

Print in draft or low-quality mode

If you don’t need high-quality prints, consider using draft or low-quality mode. This will use less ink and ultimately save you money on ink cartridges if you have an inkjet printer. I don’t think this works with laser printers, though, since they use toner and not ink.

Use smaller font sizes

Using smaller font sizes will allow you to fit more text onto each page, reducing the number of pages you need to print. The same goes for smaller margins. You only need to set it once, after all. Obviously, the downside is that it’ll be harder to read. Try to find a happy medium, LOL.

Well, maybe not that small, LOL.

Print multiple pages per sheet

Basically all printers allow you to print multiple pages per sheet, which can also help reduce the amount of paper you use.

Use recycled paper

Recycled paper is often cheaper than regular paper and has a reduced environmental footprint. Win-win!

Buy in bulk

Purchasing printer paper in bulk can often save you money in the long run. Just be sure to store it properly to prevent it from getting damaged. In my experience, Sam’s Club is really cheap (buy their store brand, Member’s Mark).

Buy with a business account

If the store allows it, business accounts often feature cheaper prices than consumer accounts. Try Amazon, for example.

Cancel unnecessary print jobs

Before hitting the print button, ask yourself if the document really needs to be printed. Many times, documents can be reviewed electronically, saving both paper and ink. If you have multiple monitors, even better.

Use e-bills and receipts

Many companies now offer the option to receive bills and receipts electronically, which can save you the cost of printing them out. You’ll often receive a discount from the company, too. Cell phone companies and cable and internet companies do this very often.

Shop around

Don’t be afraid to shop around for the best prices on printer paper. You may be able to find a better deal at a different store or by purchasing online. Like I said, I buy mine in bulk from Sam’s.

Summing It Up

By following these handy-dandy tips, you can significantly reduce the amount of printer paper you use and save money in the process. Don’t let high printing costs drain your budget – try implementing these tidbits to save some cash on printer paper.

Hey, every little bit helps!
